Private Consortium for Health

Gellért Andor TamásOn 1st September, 1999 P r i v a t e   C o n s o r t i u m f o r  H e a l t h was founded in the capital Budapest with  a l t e r n a t i v e    o u t-p a t i e n t s e r v i c e s  and with the purpose of making patientes establish and lead a way of life based of health-aweraness.

The way of living based on  h e a l t h-a w a r e n e s s has become more and more fashionable moreover a political issue on the American continent from the seventies and eighties, and later in the Western European countries as well. With this kind of attitude the health sector fulfils the role of serving citizens best interests. The  n e t w o r k   o f    p r i v a t e c l i n i c s, the prices of which are quite expensive even  compared to the western price levels, and which  is incorporated in the insurence
compensation system, is only a relatively modest segment of this.

We initiated the establishment of a private health panel, or ''guild'', so to say, as a s p e c i a l   g r o u p    p r a c t i c e, based on the critical financing situation of the Hungarian health sector, but also on the great tradicions os its intellectual capital
meeting world standards.

Following the change of the political system in-depth questionings and examinations of  patients as well as surveys of their condition could mostly take place at
private clinics owing  to the fact such patients were ordered in at preliminarly fixed consulting hours. As a result of the increase in the number of firms, the
career-starter doctors and professional employees opportunities of getting on have somewhat widened, however, the effect of the high deductions of taxes and contributions is against their employment. Taking all this into account, a process of differenctiation has begun is the entreprenuiral part of the sector as well. The establishment of the Consortium was partly aimed at proving c o m p e t i t i v e n e s s     regarding the high level of the personal and objective conditions of the reception rooms, which are situated in different geographical areas. Another objective was to try to avoid and eliminate the differences in the demands for the professions having become generally accepted among the population in 40 and 50 years and those for the professions regarded an novelties(eg.: urology, dietetics, etc.). The third objektive was to try, in the framework of a quasi group practice or in an  i n t e r - d i s c i p l i n a r y t e a m, to meet the challanges of the so-called civilisation diseases and group of symptoms (e.g. injuries to health resulting from the permanent use of computers and radio telephones, allergy, symptoms developing in the case of consumption of gene-manipulated food etc.). Our fourth purpose is to prevent of detect, by complex medical check-up and diagnostic procedures, the development of certain group of deseases and to promote the beginning of adequate treatments and, simultaneously, to reduce the period of sick-leave potentialy accompanied with difficulties of subsistence. The fith objektive is that we try to save time and travel expenses for the interested patiants, because all of our reception rooms are located in Hungary, later on is Eastern-Central Europe, and they are easy to approach by means of mass transport as well. In the future we would like to obtain the ISO 9000 quality certificate, and for this purpose we continuosly keep the individual rules of  T o t a l    Q u a l i t y    M a n a g e m e n t (TQM) and set joint standards.
